OpenAI started rolling out GPT-6 with Intelligent UI in ChatGPT on October 7. ChatGPT can now answer with an interface instead of plain text: graphics, tappable buttons, forms, charts and interactive experiences inside the conversation. You can also ask it to build a small tool on the spot, such as a savings calculator, a bill splitter or a simple game. When text is the most useful answer, it still answers in text.
Who gets it
Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise users got it first, and Free and Go users from October 8. Paid plans run on GPT-6 Sol and Free and Go on GPT-6 Luna. OpenAI says ChatGPT now has more than 1.2 billion weekly users. The update applies to the Chat tab; the models behind Work and Codex did not change. GPT-6 can also start answering while it is still thinking: OpenAI says GPT-6 Instant begins answers that need web search 44% sooner than GPT-5.6 Instant.
What came out at DevDay
A week earlier, on September 29, OpenAI released GPT-6.1 Sol, which it describes as near GPT-6 Astra performance for complex work at a lower cost: $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output in the API. In ChatGPT it is available in Work and Codex for Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu, not in the main chat. OpenAI also introduced Dots, an always-on agent with its own cloud computer and browser that keeps work moving and asks for your input when a decision is needed.
Plans
ChatGPT now costs $0 (Free), $8 (Go), $20 (Plus), and Pro at $100, $200 or $500 a month; Business is $25 per user monthly or $20 billed annually. The $500 tier adds Ultrafast, a faster mode for Codex and Work. GPT-5.5 is being retired from ChatGPT, Work and Codex on October 14.
