Frase is an AI content and SEO platform aimed at teams that want to rank both in classic search results and inside AI-generated answers. Historically it was known as a research and content-brief tool with the tagline of writing faster with full search context, but that framing no longer describes the product.
In January 2026 Frase was rebuilt from the ground up and relaunched as a GEO-first (Generative Engine Optimization) platform. The headline change is a shift from manual content briefs toward the Frase Agent, an agentic system that runs via MCP and a CLI to research a topic, draft the article, score it, optimize it and publish it. Scoring is now dual: a traditional SEO score plus a GEO score aimed at how likely content is to be cited by AI engines. The old volume metric of documents per month was replaced by AI-Optimized Articles per month.
Key capabilities include AI Visibility tracking across up to eight AI surfaces (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, Google AI Overviews, Grok, Copilot and DeepSeek), a Content Guard / Watchdog feature that auto-optimizes existing pages, and native publishing to WordPress, Sanity, Webflow, Wix and the new FraseCMS.
Pricing starts with a 7-day free trial (no credit card, Professional-level features, capped at 5 articles); there is no permanent free plan. Paid tiers, billed yearly with roughly 20% off versus monthly, are Starter at $39/mo yearly or $49 monthly (1 seat, 1 site, 10 articles/mo, 50 audit pages), Professional at $103/mo yearly or $129 monthly (3 seats, 5 sites, 40 articles/mo, 250 audit pages, marked Most Popular) and Scale at $239/mo yearly or $299 monthly (5 seats, up to 10 domains, 100 articles/mo, 1,000 audit pages). Enterprise is custom-priced and adds SSO/SAML, white-label and all eight AI platforms. Add-ons include extra seats at $29/mo each on Pro and Scale, optional pay-as-you-go overages and an optional Frase Answers add-on.
The main limitation is cost and scope: the entry price rose substantially, from historically around $15 to $49 monthly, and article and audit-page caps mean high-volume publishers will hit limits or pay overages quickly. There is also no free tier for ongoing casual use, so the trial is the only way to evaluate it long term.
Frase suits SEO teams, agencies and content marketers who specifically want to optimize for and measure their presence in AI answer engines, not just Google. It is a strong fit if you value an agent that handles the research-to-publish loop and want GEO scoring built in; it is less appropriate for solo writers on a tight budget or anyone who only needs occasional article drafts.
