Julius AI is a data analysis platform where you talk to your data in plain language. You point it at a dataset or a database, ask questions, and it writes and runs the underlying code, returns charts and tables, and explains the results. It started as a CSV-and-charts chatbot, but it has grown well beyond that.
There is no traditional product version number anymore. Julius now describes itself as an 'AI-powered Data Agents' platform that runs current frontier models. The July 2026 pricing page lists access to GPT-5.5 and Claude Opus 4.8, with a comparison table also referencing Claude Sonnet 4.6 and Opus 4.7, plus an 'All Julius Models' option. The biggest recent change is billing: it moved from the old message-count quota (the '15 messages a month' free tier many 2025 write-ups mention) to a credit-based system.
Capability-wise it now handles far more than a single CSV. You get live database connectors for Postgres, BigQuery and Snowflake, export to slides, HTML and charts, custom agents, a Julius Slack agent, semantic schema learning so it understands your table structures, and scheduled runs for recurring reports.
Pricing is freemium with two billing modes. On yearly billing (default, marketed as 20% off and shown per month): Free $0; Plus $16/mo (24,000 credits/yr); Pro $37/mo (60,000 credits/yr, 32 GB RAM); Max $166/mo (300,000 credits/yr); Ultra $416/mo (840,000 credits/yr); Business $375/mo (720,000 credits/yr, up to 50 members, database connectors). Monthly billing runs higher: Plus $20/mo, Pro $45/mo, Business $450/mo, with Enterprise as custom Contact Us pricing. The free tier includes about 2,000 credits per month, 2 GB RAM, a Google Drive connector and needs no card; students and educators are reportedly offered 50% off via third-party sources.
The main limitation is the credit model itself: heavy or complex jobs burn credits quickly, and the free 2,000 credits and 2 GB RAM run out fast on real workloads. Database connectors are gated to Business and up, and results still need a human check because the agent can make analytical mistakes.
Julius suits analysts, founders, researchers and operations people who want to query data conversationally without writing SQL or Python, and who occasionally need to connect a real database or ship a report. If you only ever open a single spreadsheet once in a while, the free tier is enough; if you live in databases, budget for Business.
