Krea AI started as a real-time image generation tool and has grown into a full creative platform that runs in the browser. It combines its own models with a large library of third-party ones, so you can move between styles and tasks without leaving the app.

The headline change is Krea 2, released in May 2026 as the company's first foundation image model built from scratch, a roughly 12B-parameter Diffusion Transformer. It was quickly followed in June by Krea 2 Turbo, which produces high-quality images in about two seconds. Krea also shipped open-weights versions of K2 Raw and K2 Turbo under a custom license.

On top of the base models, Krea 2 adds Generative Sliders for direct control over intensity, complexity, movement, and prompt creativity, LoRA training so you can teach it your own style or subject, a Moodboard Gallery, and a Krea 2 API. The wider suite now includes text- and image-to-video, 3D generation, 8K AI upscaling, and more than 64 integrated models.

Pricing is tiered. The free plan costs nothing and gives 100 compute units per day with no card required. Basic is $9/month ($5.40 on annual billing) with 5,000 units and a commercial license. Pro is $35/month ($21 annual) with 20,000 units, all video models, and 8x concurrency. Max is $70/month ($42 annual) with 60,000 units and unlimited concurrency. Business runs $200/month with 80,000 units, up to 50 seats, and SSO, and Enterprise is custom. Annual billing is about 40% off.

The main limits are practical. Everything is metered in compute units, so heavy use of video, 3D, or upscaling can burn through an allowance quickly, and the free daily cap is modest. The sheer number of models and controls also makes the interface busy for newcomers.

Krea fits people who want one place for image, video, 3D, and upscaling rather than separate tools, and who value fast iteration and fine-grained control. It is less suited to anyone who only needs occasional single images and would rather not think about a credit system.
