Recraft AI is an image-generation platform aimed at designers, marketers and product teams rather than casual users. It runs in a browser-based Studio where you write prompts, control style and export results as raster or editable vector files.
The current model lineup is the Recraft V4.1 family, released in May 2026: a standard V4.1 model plus Pro (2K), Vector, Pro Vector and Utility variants. On September 23, 2026, Recraft added V4.1 Flash, a separate, faster raster-only model with a median generation time of about 1.3 seconds per image and no style controls. An Exploration Mode generates several visual directions from a single prompt.
Beyond its own models, Recraft Studio integrates third-party image engines - Nano Banana, Seedream, GPT Image and Flux - available from the Basic plan up, and video models including Kling, Grok Imagine Video, Veo and Seedance, available from the Pro plan up, so you can compare outputs without switching tools.
Pricing is credit-based, and the figures below reflect annual billing, which Recraft discounts by about 20% compared to monthly. Basic costs $10/month billed annually ($120/year) for 1,000 credits per month and commercial usage rights. Pro starts at $16/month billed annually ($192/year) for 2,000 credits, with higher credit tiers available plus access to the video models. Teams costs $18/seat/month billed annually ($211/year) for 2,000 credits per seat, a shared workspace and SSO; Enterprise plans use custom quotes. Recraft also offers pay-per-image API pricing, from about $0.007 per image on V4.1 Flash up to $0.30 per image on Pro Vector. Top-up credit packs of 200 to 1,600 credits do not expire.
The free plan is restricted rather than a genuine alternative to paying: it offers limited free credits, capped at three generations per style per day, three uploads per day and up to two images per generation, using only Recraft's own models with no parallel generation. Images made on the free plan are public, owned by Recraft, and carry no commercial license, so serious use requires a paid plan. Heavy raster or upscaling work can also burn through credits quickly on the entry-level tiers.
Recraft suits teams that need both clean vectors and realistic raster from one platform, and value consistent style control. It is less suited to hobbyists who just want free, unrestricted images.
