Semrush is one of the longest-running online-visibility platforms, built around keyword research, rank tracking, backlink and traffic analysis, technical site audits and content tools. Marketers, agencies and SEO teams use it to size up competitors and plan campaigns across search and paid channels.
In 2026 the product was repositioned around AI search. The current lineup, Semrush One, splits into four plans (SEO, Starter, Pro+, Advanced) and bundles the classic SEO toolkit with a new AI Visibility Toolkit that monitors brand mentions across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode.
Alongside that, Semrush shipped an LLM Gap Analyzer app and Bot and Agent Analytics to show which AI crawlers hit your site, and published an expanded 2026 AI Visibility Index built on 126 million U.S. AI-search prompts.
On annual billing the Semrush One tiers run about $117.33/mo for SEO, $165.17/mo for Starter (which adds AI Visibility and 50 prompts/day), $248.17/mo for Pro+ and $455.67/mo for Advanced; monthly billing pushes the top tier to $549/mo. The classic SEO plans are still sold as Pro ($139.95/mo), Guru ($249.95/mo) and Business ($499.95/mo). A limited free account (around 10 searches a day, first 10 results per report) and a 7-day trial requiring a credit card are available.
The main drawbacks are cost and complexity: entry pricing is high for freelancers, extra seats and add-ons stack up quickly, and the sheer breadth of tools has a real learning curve. The most useful AI-visibility features sit on the paid tiers.
Semrush fits agencies, in-house marketing teams and serious SEO practitioners who want one platform covering both traditional search rankings and the newer question of how a brand surfaces inside AI answers.
