Tableau AI

Tableau Agent is Salesforce's generative-AI layer inside Tableau. You describe what you want in plain language and it helps build calculations, prep data, suggest visualizations and explain what is happening in a chart, rather than making you click through menus manually.

The product was previously called Einstein Copilot for Tableau and has been rebranded to Tableau Agent. Vendor pricing pages currently list Tableau Agent as a feature of Tableau Authoring, Prep, Catalog, Dashboards and Pulse within the Tableau Cloud+ Edition, as well as within the broader Tableau+ Bundle and the standalone Tableau Next platform. Tableau Server Standard and Enterprise editions list Tableau Agent for Authoring and Prep only. Tableau Cloud Standard and Tableau Cloud Enterprise, the most commonly quoted Tableau Cloud tiers, do not include Tableau Agent.

Capabilities center on natural-language authoring: asking for a calculation, a chart, or an explanation of a visualization and having the Agent draft it. It sits within Salesforce's wider agentic-analytics push, which also includes Tableau Next, a separate platform built on Salesforce's Agentforce 360 Platform.

Pricing is tiered and partly quote-only. Tableau Cloud Standard, billed annually, runs $75/user/month for a Creator, $42 for an Explorer and $15 for a Viewer; Tableau Cloud Enterprise, also billed annually, runs $115, $70 and $35 respectively — neither tier includes Tableau Agent. Getting Tableau Agent in the cloud requires Tableau Cloud+ Edition or the Tableau+ Bundle, both of which are contact-sales, annual-contract products with no published per-seat price. Tableau Next, sold separately, starts from $40 per user/month billed annually and includes Tableau Agent. Tableau Server Standard starts from $15/user/month and Enterprise from $35/user/month, both billed annually, and include Tableau Agent for Authoring and Prep. A free trial of Tableau Cloud is offered, though its length and whether a card is required are not stated on the vendor's pricing pages. Tableau Desktop Free Edition exists for local file authoring but has no AI features.

The main limitations are that Tableau Agent is not a standalone, single-price product: it is bundled into specific editions (Cloud+, Tableau+, Tableau Next, or Server Standard/Enterprise), the most expensive cloud bundles are priced by sales quote only, and the simplest, most commonly cited Tableau Cloud tiers do not include it at all.

It makes sense for teams already invested in Tableau or the wider Salesforce ecosystem who want natural-language authoring and self-service analytics and are willing to budget for the specific edition that includes Tableau Agent.
