Tableau AI

Tableau Agent is Salesforce's generative-AI layer inside Tableau. You describe what you want in plain language and it helps build calculations, prep data, suggest visualizations and explain what is happening in a chart, rather than making you click through menus manually.

The product used to be called Einstein Copilot for Tableau and has been rebranded to Tableau Agent. It is now generally available across Tableau Cloud Web Authoring, Tableau Prep and Tableau Catalog. Salesforce has also launched a wider agentic-analytics platform called Tableau Next (also referred to as Tableau Einstein) that the Agent plugs into.

Development through 2026 has been steady: Tableau Agent inside Dashboards entered Beta in February 2026, the Tableau MCP integration became a cloud-hosted service, and a guided setup flow was added to make enabling the AI features less painful for admins.

Pricing is subscription-based with no permanent free tier, though there is a 14-day trial that does not require a credit card. Tableau Cloud Standard (billed annually) runs $75/user/mo for a Creator, $42 for an Explorer and $15 for a Viewer; Tableau Cloud Enterprise is $115, $70 and $35 respectively. The AI capabilities ship inside the Tableau+ bundle, which is quote-only (contact sales) and reportedly lists around $115/user/mo for a Creator. As of October 2025 the AI features no longer burn separate Einstein Request credits.

The main limitations are that it is not a standalone product: you need a Tableau Cloud subscription plus Tableau+ to get the agentic features, real per-seat AI pricing is behind a sales conversation, and the newest pieces (Agent in Dashboards) are still in Beta.

It makes sense for teams already invested in Tableau or the wider Salesforce ecosystem who want natural-language authoring and self-service analytics without hiring more analysts.
