v0 by Vercel is an AI agent for building web apps. You describe what you want in natural language (optionally attaching screenshots or Figma-style references), and it produces working code you can preview, edit, and ship. It is developed by Vercel, the company behind Next.js and the Vercel hosting platform.
The current version is the post-February 2026 "new v0", which changed the product substantially. What used to be mainly a UI-component generator is now a full-stack agentic development platform: you can import GitHub repositories and work with branches and pull requests, use a VS Code-style editor, run full-stack apps in a sandbox runtime, connect databases and services (Snowflake, AWS), organize work into Projects and Folders, and make visual edits through Design Mode.
Under the hood the assistant runs on a family of models exposed as v0 Mini, Pro, Max, and Max Fast, with an API model published as vercel/v0-1.0-md. As of March 31, 2026 billing switched from fixed message or credit counts to token-based metering, where input and output tokens are converted into credits.
Pricing has a free tier at $0/month that includes about $5 of monthly credits (roughly 7 messages a day). Paid plans are Team at $30 per user/month and Business at $100 per user/month, with a custom-priced Enterprise plan. The older Premium plan at $20/month still exists for legacy users but is closed to new sign-ups. Purchased credits expire one year after purchase.
The main limitation is cost predictability: token-based metering makes it harder to know in advance how much a session will cost, and heavy full-stack work can burn through credits quickly. The free tier's ~7 messages a day is enough to try it but not to build seriously, and the platform is tightly oriented toward the Vercel and Next.js ecosystem.
v0 is a good fit for developers and product teams already on Vercel who want to go from prompt to a deployed, full-stack app quickly, and for designers or founders who want to prototype real, working software rather than static mockups.
