ElevenLabs is a voice-focused AI company best known for realistic text-to-speech and voice cloning. Beyond TTS it now spans audiobooks, music generation and voice agents, making it one of the more complete audio stacks available to developers and creators.
The current flagship models are Eleven v4 and Eleven v4 Turbo, released September 28, 2026. Both support more than 90 languages and are available across ElevenAgents, ElevenCreative and the ElevenAPI. Eleven v4 Turbo is the low-latency variant built for voice agents, with around 100ms median inference latency and roughly 150ms median time to first speech over WebSocket. The previous generation, Eleven v3, reached general availability in February 2026 and remains available but has been superseded by v4 for most use cases.
Core capabilities include high-quality multilingual TTS, instant voice cloning from about 10 seconds of audio, professional studio-grade cloning, real-time conversational agents powered by Eleven v4 Turbo, music generation, and an API with its own subscription tiers for production use.
There is a free plan with 10,000 credits per month, up to 3 Studio projects and no credit rollover, covering TTS, speech-to-text, sound effects, voice design, music and image generation. Paid tiers are billed monthly or annually (annual billing gives two months free): Starter is $6/mo ($5/mo billed annually) with commercial rights and instant cloning; Creator is $22/mo ($18.33/mo billed annually) with professional cloning, sometimes promoted at a discounted first-month rate; Pro is $99/mo ($82.50/mo billed annually); Scale is $299/mo ($249.17/mo billed annually, 3 seats); and Business is $990/mo ($825/mo billed annually, 10 seats). Custom Enterprise pricing is also available.
The main limitations are credit-based usage that can run out quickly on higher-volume work, no commercial rights or required attribution on the free plan, and costs that climb fast once you need many hours of audio or several seats. Voice cloning also raises consent and misuse concerns you have to manage yourself.
