Kling AI is a video generation platform built by the Chinese company Kuaishou. You describe a scene in text, or feed it a still image, and it animates a short cinematic clip. Over the past two years it has grown from an experimental demo into one of the most widely used AI video tools.
The current version is Kling 3.0, which launched on February 5, 2026 on the Omni One architecture. It added native multilingual audio, multi-shot storyboarding of up to six connected shots, and output up to 4K at 60fps, alongside better character consistency and an improved Motion Brush. On June 17, 2026 Kuaishou followed up with Kling 3.0 Turbo, a faster and cheaper mode with synced audio starting around 0.8 yuan per second at 720p, plus a 3.0 Omni upgrade that brought 4K editing and 3-15 second durations.
In practice the strengths are motion quality, prompt adherence and the ability to string several shots into a coherent sequence rather than one isolated clip. The Kling 3.0 Pro model topped the ArtificialAnalysis text-to-video leaderboard in February 2026 with an Arena ELO of 1240.
Pricing is freemium. The free tier gives 66 credits a day (reset daily, no rollover, watermarked, roughly 5-second clips). Paid monthly plans run about $10/mo for Standard (660 credits), $37/mo for Pro (3,000 credits), $92/mo for Premier (8,000 credits) and $180/mo for Ultra (26,000 credits). Annual billing cuts roughly 34% off Standard through Premier, bringing the effective monthly cost to around $6.60, $24.42 and $60.72; Ultra has no annual option.
The main limitations are clip length and cost. Even the top plans generate clips of up to about 15 seconds, not minutes, so longer videos have to be assembled from multiple generations. Credits also drain quickly at higher resolutions, and the free tier's watermark and short clips make it more of a trial than a working tool.
Kling suits creators, marketers and video editors who want high-quality short clips for social content, ads or B-roll, and who are comfortable working shot by shot rather than expecting one long finished video.
