Bubble

Bubble is a visual development platform that lets you build full web applications without writing code. You design the interface by dragging elements onto a canvas, model your data in a built-in database, and wire up logic through a point-and-click workflow editor.

As a continuously updated SaaS, Bubble has no version numbers, but the platform has changed significantly of late. It now includes a native mobile app builder that publishes to iOS and Android, an in-editor AI agent called Agent 2 that can scaffold or modify apps from prompts, a beta Bubble MCP integration that lets external AI coding tools such as Claude Code and Codex work with Bubble apps, and a reworked pricing model based on Workload Units (WU) that meter server-side usage rather than fixed capacity. Each paid plan now also includes a monthly allotment of AI credits for using Agent 2.

Key capabilities include a responsive visual editor, a relational database, reusable components, an API connector for third-party services, a plugin marketplace, and one-click deployment. Agent 2 can produce a starting app or modify an existing one from a prompt, with changes previewable in the editor before you accept them.

Pricing is split into three tracks: Web only, Mobile only, and Web+Mobile. Web-only Starter is $29/mo billed annually or $32/mo billed monthly, Growth is $119/mo annually or $134/mo monthly, and Team is $349/mo annually or $399/mo monthly; Bubble has announced the web-only Starter price will rise to $32/mo annually ($39/mo monthly) starting October 20, 2026. Mobile-only plans run $42/$169/$449 billed annually ($49/$199/$529 billed monthly), and Web+Mobile combined plans run $59/$209/$549 billed annually ($69/$249/$649 billed monthly). Enterprise is a custom quote. The free plan is $0/mo with 50,000 Workload Units, one app editor, and 500 AI credits per month, but it is limited to development mode only, with no live deployment, no custom domain, and no way to purchase additional AI credits.

The main limitations are cost predictability and lock-in. Workload-Units billing can spike with traffic or inefficient workflows, and everything you build lives inside Bubble's proprietary environment, so migrating off the platform means rebuilding. Complex or high-scale apps can also hit performance ceilings, and the free plan's AI usage is capped at 500 credits per month with no option to buy more without upgrading.

Bubble suits founders, small teams, and agencies who want to ship a real web or mobile product without hiring developers, validate an idea quickly, or build internal tools. It is less suited to teams that need full control over their code or expect very high, unpredictable traffic.
