Claude Design is a design-focused assistant from Anthropic Labs. Rather than being a standalone product, it is a feature bundled into paid Claude subscriptions, aimed at turning existing project material into polished, consistent design output.
It launched on April 17, 2026 as a research preview and runs on the Claude Opus 4.7 vision model. Note that while the broader Claude line moved to Opus 4.8 in mid-2026, there is no official confirmation that Claude Design itself has been upgraded past 4.7.
The core idea is that Claude Design can read a team's codebase and design files and use them to auto-build a reusable design system. From there it exports finished work to Canva, PDF, PPTX or standalone HTML, and can hand off directly to Claude Code for implementation.
There is no standalone price. Access is included with paid Claude plans and metered against each plan's usage limits: Pro at $20/mo ($17/mo billed annually), Max 5x at $100/mo, Max 20x at $200/mo, Team Standard at $25/seat/mo ($20 annual), Team Premium at $125/seat/mo ($100 annual), and Enterprise on custom pricing. The Free $0 plan does not include Claude Design.
Usage is tracked separately and counts against your subscription limits, and users report fairly restrictive weekly caps; you can purchase extra usage beyond those limits. Being a research preview, behavior and availability may change.
It suits product teams and designers already on a paid Claude plan who want to generate a consistent design system from existing code and files, and who value a smooth handoff into Claude Code.
