Mistral Le Chat

Vibe is the consumer-facing AI assistant from French lab Mistral. It started life as Le Chat and, on June 5, 2026, was rebranded to Vibe; the URL, your login, and all existing plans and conversations carried over, so nothing was lost in the switch.

The current version runs on Mistral Medium 3.5, a 128B-parameter model with a 256k-token context window, released in public preview with open weights under a modified MIT license. This is a clear shift from the earlier framing as a fast multilingual chatbot toward a more agent-oriented product.

Vibe is now built around three modes. Vibe Chat is the classic turn-based conversation, essentially the old Le Chat. Vibe Work is an agent mode with persistent memory that executes multi-step workflows across connected tools, asking for your approval before it takes sensitive actions. Vibe Code provides remote coding agents that run asynchronously in the cloud and let you move a session from your local machine to the cloud.

Pricing has a free tier at $0/mo with limited features and models. Pro is $14.99/mo, Team is $24.99 per user/mo (billed monthly, with a $50/mo minimum and 30GB of storage per user), and Enterprise is custom-priced with private deployments and custom models, UI and tools. Verified students get an Education plan at $5.99/mo, valid for up to 12 months. You can pay in USD or EUR.

Worth knowing: the Vibe consumer subscription is billed separately from Mistral's developer API, so a Pro or Team plan does not include API credits. Medium 3.5 is also still in public preview, which means some rough edges are expected.

Vibe suits people who want a European-built assistant with open weights, and teams that want agentic workflows and cloud coding agents rather than a plain chatbot. If you only need occasional Q&A, the free tier may be enough.
