Suno

Suno is a text-to-music tool that writes, arranges and performs a song from a short description or your own lyrics. You type a prompt, pick a style, and it returns finished tracks with vocals and backing instrumentation in about a minute.

The headline model right now is v5.5, launched on March 26, 2026. It introduced Voices, which let you clone or reuse your own singing voice; Custom Models, which fine-tune v5.5 to your own back catalogue (up to three per account, on Pro and Premier); and My Taste, which learns the genres and moods you gravitate toward. Note that v5 and v5.5 are paid-only, so the free tier still runs on the older v4.5-all model.

Day to day, the tool covers the full loop: generation from a prompt, custom lyrics, style and persona control, stem separation on paid plans, and audio upload to extend or remix existing material.

Pricing runs on a credit system where one full song costs 5 credits. Free gives you $0/mo and 50 credits per day, which works out to roughly 10 songs a day, for personal, non-commercial use only, with no stem separation and 8-minute uploads. Pro is $10/mo (or $8/mo billed annually, $64/yr) for 2,500 credits a month (about 500 songs), the v5.5 model, commercial rights, personas, two stem types, 30-minute uploads and a priority queue. Premier is $30/mo (or $24/mo annually, $192/yr) for 10,000 credits (about 2,000 songs), v5.5, Suno Studio, commercial use and three stem types.

The main limitations are that the newest quality is gated: you cannot touch v5.5, stem separation or commercial rights on the free plan, and the daily free allowance is smaller than it first appears once you account for 5 credits per song.

Suno suits hobbyists experimenting with ideas, content creators who need cleared background music, and musicians who want fast demos or reference tracks, provided they are willing to pay for the current model and commercial use.
