Motion started as an AI project manager and calendar that automatically prioritized tasks and blocked time on your schedule. Over time it has grown well beyond that core.

Motion now markets itself as an "AI Powered SuperApp for Work." The product spans AI Chat, AI Docs/Wiki/Notes, an AI Meeting Notetaker, AI Dashboards with Gantt and timeline views, and a set of pre-built AI agents for workplace tasks. These run on models from vendors including OpenAI and Anthropic.

On the planning side, Project Workflows V2 lets teams generate tasks across current and future project stages. Team-oriented features like capacity planning, Gantt and timeline views, time tracking, and shared dashboards sit under the higher Business AI tier.

Pricing is credit-based and billed per seat. The Pro AI tier costs $19 per seat per month billed annually, or $29 per seat per month billed monthly, and includes 7,500 AI credits per seat per month. The Business AI tier costs $29 per seat per month billed annually, or $49 per seat per month billed monthly, and includes 15,000 AI credits per seat per month. Separate individual (non-team) plans are also available at different rates. There is no free plan, only a free trial of unstated length.

The main limitations are cost and the credit model: heavy AI use can push usage toward the monthly credit limit, and there is no permanent free option. The broad feature set also means a steeper learning curve than a simple to-do app.

Motion suits individuals and teams who want automatic scheduling combined with AI docs, chat, and agents in one place, and who can justify a paid per-seat plan.
